Before you purchase stationery.....

Your wedding stationery can account for a large part of the wedding budget. There are some things you should consider when you make your invitation selection.

  • Size matters! We cannot print envelopes that are smaller than 5.75 inches wide or 4.5 inches tall. Also, if your envelopes are extremely large please check with us first before sending them, just to make sure they will fit through the printer.
  • Always order at least 25 more invitation sets than you think you need. As you get closer to your wedding you will realize you forgot to add people to the guest list.
  • Order at least 25 sets of extra envelopes for addressing mistakes. We require at least 5-10% extra for errors. It is much less expensive to order these now than later as a separate order.
  • Make sure you have the return address printed on your outer envelopes and on the front of the RSVP envelopes. It's usually less expensive to have it done by the invitation printer.
  • Buy the best paper you can afford. There is a big difference in paper grades. Not only can you feel it with your hands, but the ink lays beautifully on fine paper such as Crane's or William Arthur. Certain papers can cause the ink to look fuzzy.
  • All square invitations, no matter the size, cost extra postage to mail.
  • Remember that this is the first impression your guests will have of your day, make sure you put your best foot forward.
  • There is a trend toward invitations that only come with an outer envelope. Be aware that there are certain situations that make it difficult to achieve a nice presentation without an inner envelope. Let me give you an example. Let's say you are inviting Mr. and Mrs. John Smith. They have 2 children both living at home, who are under age 18, and both are bringing guests. With two envelopes it would be handled like this:

    Outer:                                             Inner:
Mr. and Mrs. John Smith                         Mr. and Mrs. Smith
1235 Main Street                                    Jill and Guest
Southlake, Texas 78236                             Jake and Guest

With a single envelope, it would get ugly:

    Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
    Miss Jill Smith and Guest
    Mr. Jake Smith and Guest
          1235 Main Street
    Southlake, Texas 78236

For a better presentation you should split this into 2 or 3 separate invitations. If the children living in the household are old enough to bring a guest, you really should send them a separate invitation. You may need to order more invitations than you think if you go with a design that only provides outer envelopes.
  • Do not buy stationery with dark colored envelopes, metallic or pearlized envelopes, or glossy envelopes unless you have a verified plan in place for addressing them. We cannot print on these types of envelopes and hand calligraphers also have a hard time with them. Sometimes I think the stationery designers are not thinking things all the way through when they make some designs. If you have already purchased dark envelopes and cannot find anyone to address them, try finding the same size envelopes in white or ivory to compliment the invitation you selected.

If you have purchased, or are thinking about purchasing, an invitation with this shape of envelope, you need to click here for more information that needs to be considered.

Our Errors and Omissions Policy

We will only print two batches of envelopes per customer. The initial batch, and one additional batch that covers reprints of our errors, your errors, and additions. The second batch is subject to a $10 minimum charge for setup - even if it is only one envelope. An error on our part will be reprinted at no charge. Please DO NOT write corrections directly on the envelope. Occasionally, we will make changes from your original list to correct an error in etiquette or addressing standards. Sometimes we also find incorrect information in your list, like an incorrect zip code or misspellings for example. Just because it does not match the address you gave us does not necessarily mean it is incorrect. Please contact us with questions or concerns. Make a list of mistakes and corrections, along with any additions you may have and send this list to us. We highly recommended that you wait a few days after mailing out your invitations to see if any envelopes "boomerang" back to you. Any mistakes or additions found after the second batch is done will have to be hand addressed by you.
